I'm writing a review about the Gen II alloy muzzle brake. I was researching on the Internet about muzzle brakes and was looking at various brakes but 99% needed the barrel to be threaded by and gunsmith ( time and $$$ ) and no idea of how much recoil they would tame % wise. I know this is hard to calculate but a ball park figure would help. After finding the HSS website and seeing they had the SXT muzzle brake for sale I was intrigued to find out more as it was claiming a bolt on muzzle brake with significant recoil reductions, no gunsmithing required. I took the punt and ordered one from the HSS web site, which gave you several options in barrel diameter. My gun is a .308 and it is very light so the recoil is quite sharp, making staying on target after a shot a little challenging. After receiving the brake in the post which only took 2 days express post it arrived on my doorstep and after coming home from work I proceeded to fit it. On first opening the package I was impressed at the design and especially how light it was. I had opted for the silver alloy brake in size 20mm. After fitting it which took all of a few minutes I was desperate to get to the range and try it out. HSS claims it can make a .308 feel like a .243 or less, at this remark I was feeling a little skeptical. Ive loaded my .308 with 150gr Hornady Ballistic Tips and sent the target down range. I then fired my first round, and believe me not as I was amazed how much the recoil had dissipated as I would say that the .308 felt like my mates .243 or even less ( for once something that someone quotes in the shooting industry is true ). I stayed at the range for hours ( only stopping to let the barrel cool ), shooting at least 100 rounds of .308 and did not feel a thing. If you are recoil sensitive or have a previous injury or even just simply want to see what your projectile is striking then this is the brake for you. While I was at the range 2 guys were asking to shoot it, so I removed the brake and then put it back on and they also stood there dumbfounded by how much it tamed the recoil, so as they say the proof is in the pudding. HSS you have an awesome product and I'll be telling everyone I can about it. Thanks for your great service PG.
